 Our LIVE, WORK and PLAY – TAKE YOUR BEST SHOT photo contest is open to all residents of Black River-Matheson.

This contest is open from August 1, 2017 at 12:00 a.m. until October 1, 2017 at 12:00 pm


Participants may submit as many photos as they like into any of the following categories LIVE, WORK or PLAY in BRM-and provide a brief description of 250 words or less (describing subject matter or theme of photo, where & when it was taken, etc.) Each photo submission must have your name, address, e-mail address and phone number

       LIVE – Any photos of animals, flowers, scenery, homes, farms, etc.

WORK – Any photos of workplaces in the area, restaurants, township office, train station, library, farms etc.

PLAY- Any photos of activities, hobbies and beaches etc.

Digital photo requirements: a jpeg file with a resolution of not less than 300 dpi at a minimum size of 5x7 inches (1500 pixels x 2100 pixels or greater) Jpeg file must not exceed 20MB. Emailed to Grace Corbett at

Submissions should not include copyright-protected material by third parties unless permission has been granted.

By submitting an entry to the photo contest, entrants certify that their participation in this photo contest is not illegal or in violation of any law.

If you choose to include people in your submission, you are responsible for obtaining the necessary releases from the individuals depicted, and must be able to provide copies of those releases along with submission. (A release form can be picked up at the municipal office or found on our current website.)

The municipal office reserves the right to reject any entry if the content provided is not met by our entry requirements

Judging will take place on October 16, 2017 at the regular council meeting.

Judging will be based on criteria such as photo composition, originality and how well the submission reflects the selected contest category and Black River-Matheson. Decisions of the council are final.


The winners will be notified by mail, shortly after they have been identified as winning entries.

Winners will be given photo credit on the new and improved website.
